Memories of a Traveller
(1887), theater writings and simpler dramas are the result of observation and knowingness of rural life, of the form of the popular language, with a tendency to erudition and to idealistic and sentimental attitude of romantism.
Memories of a Traveller
had an immediate success.
Other writings of his mature style are Pla y Muntanya (1888), De ma Collita (1890), Tardanies (1892). His novels : L’Hereu Subira (1893) and Lena (1894), opposed to naturalism, try their best to take over usual folklore. The legend of “the feast of the bear” is told in Montalba.
He publishes works on greek ethymologies, botanic, agriculture and the folklore, etc…
And he will as well try various writings of narration or press articles, like his work at « La Renaixença », which contributed to defend the interest of alpinism.
